Climbing End of Season Awards

Climbing end of season awards look different depending on the club. A traditional mountaineering club celebrates a year of routes, hut meets and trips at its annual dinner, while a climbing wall's youth squad or bouldering league closes its season with results and progress awards. Our glass awards are UV-printed in full colour with your club logo and up to four lines of text, which suits both.

When climbing clubs hold awards

Outdoor clubs in the UK climb mostly from spring to autumn, so their annual dinner is usually held in winter, often on a hut weekend or at a pub near the crags. Indoor bouldering leagues run in rounds, frequently through the winter, and end with a final and a presentation. Youth squads and junior clubs at walls often follow the school year, finishing in summer.

A winter league fits "2025/26"; an outdoor club's year or a summer competition season takes the year alone.

What climbers award

Competitive awards come from league tables and age categories: Overall League Winner, Female and Male Champion, and youth categories that follow the age bands used in national youth competitions. Wall-based junior clubs often add Most Improved Climber, Best Newcomer and a Coaches' Award for attitude and effort.

Outdoor clubs tend to give awards with more personality: Climber of the Year, New Route of the Year for a first ascent by a member, Meets Organiser of the Year, and the club's Epic of the Year for the trip that went memorably wrong but ended safely. These are often voted for at the dinner itself.

Logos and how they print

Climbing club logos often use mountain outlines, a karabiner, a coiled rope or a simple line drawing of a crag. Many are a single colour, and plenty are white because they were designed for T-shirts and chalk bags. If your logo is white on transparent, choose the dark backing panel so it shows against the glass.

Line drawings of crags or ridgelines have fine detail, so upload the largest version you have. A logo saved from a social media profile will usually be too small to print sharply.

Ordering and wording

A youth squad with four age categories and two places each needs eight awards; add a few special awards and you are past ten. Use Large at £13.99 for overall winners and Small at £8.99 for category places and progress awards. The minimum is five awards and sizes can be mixed.

For text, keep the award on line 1, the category or league on line 2 ("Under-14 Girls" or "Winter Bouldering League"), the climber's name on line 3 and the season or year on line 4. For New Route of the Year, try the route name and grade on line 2, the climber on line 3 and the crag on line 4.

Good to know

Questions

Can a route grade go on the award?

Yes. Grades are just text, so E3 5c, 7a or V6 all fit on one line. Pair the grade with the route name, and put the crag on another line so the award records exactly what was climbed and where.

Is Epic of the Year suitable for a glass award?

It is one of the most popular awards at climbing club dinners. Keep the wording light and short, for example the title on line 1, a few words about the trip on line 2, then the name or names of those involved.

Our wall runs a bouldering league with dozens of entrants. How should we order?

Most walls award places in each category rather than every entrant. Design one award with the wall's logo, then use Same crest, new name for each winner, mixing Large for overall winners with Small for category places.

How long will delivery take?

Made in Cornwall and delivered within 7 days Delivery is a flat £10.00 per order, whatever the quantity. If your dinner is at a remote hut, have the awards sent to a committee member's home in good time.
