Cycling End of Season Awards

Cycling end of season awards traditionally come out at the annual club dinner, once the time trial season and the autumn hill climbs are over. A cycling club may have racers, time triallists, club run regulars, cyclo-cross riders and a youth section all looking for recognition. Our printed glass awards carry your club badge in full colour with up to four lines, which leaves room for a title, a rider and a time.

The cycling season and the annual dinner

For most road and time trial clubs, the season runs from March to September, followed by hill climbs in late September and October. The club dinner and prize presentation usually takes place between November and January, when riders are off the bike and have time to celebrate.

Clubs with cyclo-cross or mountain bike sections have a winter season running into January, so some hold a second presentation in spring. Youth sections for younger riders often prefer a summer awards morning at the track or club circuit instead.

Club championships and trophies

Time trialling clubs traditionally crown a best all-rounder, based on average speed across set distances, along with champions at 10, 25 and 50 miles and a hill climb champion. Road racing clubs often have a road race champion and a points competition from club races. Separate ladies', veterans' and junior categories are common.

Not every award is about speed. A club run award for the most rides or miles, a most improved rider, a clubman or clubwoman of the year and a ride leader award recognise the members who keep a cycling club social and safe.

Club badges and jersey colours

Older cycling clubs, often called Wheelers, Road Club or Cycling Club, frequently have traditional badges with winged wheels and fine lettering, so upload the sharpest file you have. Newer clubs often use a wide modern wordmark taken from the club jersey, which sits neatly across the top of the glass. The badge prints in full colour, and a white jersey logo can sit on a dark backing panel.

Wording advice for cycling awards

Cycling awards often include a time or speed, so use line one for the title, line two for the club, line three for the rider and line four for the result, such as 25 MILE TT 52:14. Because road and time trial seasons run within one summer, most clubs put the single year rather than a two-year season.

Large awards suit the best all-rounder and club champions, and small awards suit distance champions, category winners and club run awards. Mix them freely in one order, add each rider without uploading the badge again, and check longer lines in the live on-screen mock-up.

Good to know

Questions

How should we word a best all-rounder award?

Use BEST ALL-ROUNDER on line one, the club name on line two and the rider's name on line three. On line four, many clubs add the average speed, such as 26.412 MPH, followed by the category if needed.

Can we order awards for both a summer and a winter presentation?

Yes. Each order only needs at least 5 awards, so road and time trial awards can be ordered for the club dinner and cyclo-cross awards later. Keep the same badge for a matching set.

Can a hill climb award show the time and the climb's name?

Yes. Put HILL CLIMB CHAMPION on line one and use the last line for the climb and time, keeping it short. The live on-screen mock-up shows whether it fits before you order.

When should we order for the club dinner?

Made in Cornwall and delivered within 7 days Once your hill climb results are confirmed, order with plenty of time to spare. Delivery is a flat £10.00 per order, however many awards you include.
