Ice Hockey End of Season Awards

Ice hockey end of season awards in the UK have a flavour of their own. Recreational, NIHL and junior teams all finish in spring, and the awards night is often the last time a squad gets together before the summer break from the ice. We UV-print your club crest in full colour on clear glass, with up to four lines of text, so the netminder, the top points scorer and the unsung hero all go home with something that matches.

Ice hockey's season and awards night

Most UK ice hockey runs from September to March, with play-offs and junior tournaments taking some teams into April. Ice time is the limiting factor for every club, so presentations are usually held in a function room, a social club or the rink bar, often in April or May.

Junior programmes are commonly organised by age group, such as under-10s, under-12s, under-14s, under-16s and under-18s, and many junior clubs are run separately from the senior team that shares their rink. If both hold awards, agree early which logo goes on which awards.

The awards that matter in hockey

The usual list starts with Most Valuable Player, Players' Player and Coach's Award, then splits by position: Best Forward, Best Defenceman and Netminder of the Year. British hockey usually says netminder rather than goalie, and many clubs keep that tradition on the award.

Stat-based awards are common because hockey keeps good records. Top Points Scorer combines goals and assists, and some clubs add Top Goalscorer separately. Most Improved, Rookie of the Year and an Unsung Hero award for the volunteer who runs the bench, fills water bottles or drives the minibus round off the night.

Planning numbers for a hockey club

A hockey roster typically has around twenty players across forward lines, defence pairs and two netminders. Six to eight awards per team is normal, and a club with three or four junior age groups plus an adult team can easily need thirty.

Use Small awards at £8.99 for team awards and Large at £13.99 for the headline ones, such as club MVP or Coach of the Year. The minimum order is five, with sizes and names mixed across the order. Same crest, new name lets you design once and then add every age group's winners quickly.

Mascot logos and wording

Hockey logos are often mascot-style artwork: an animal or character with thick outlines, bright team colours and sometimes the club name curved around it. Full colour printing suits these well. Upload the largest, sharpest file you have, ideally the original PNG from whoever designed the badge, as small web images can look soft once printed. If the artwork is white on transparent, choose the dark backing panel.

On the text lines, put the award first (NETMINDER OF THE YEAR), the team second ("U14" or "NIHL 2"), then the player and the season, "2025/26". A shirt number sits nicely after a name if your players are known by them.

Questions

Should we call it netminder or goaltender on the award?

Use whatever your club says in the dressing room. Netminder is the traditional British term and reads well on glass, but Goaltender or Goalie of the Year are equally common, and every text line is free text, so the choice is yours.

Can the top points scorer award show goals and assists?

Yes. You can use one of the four lines for a short stat line, such as the player's goals and assists, in place of the team or season. Keep it brief so it stays readable, and check the figures with your scorer before ordering.

Our junior club and senior team use different logos. Is that a problem?

No. Each award has its own design, so the junior crest can go on the age-group awards and the senior team's logo on theirs within the same order. Upload each logo once, then add names with Same crest, new name.

When should we order for an April or May awards night?

Order once the final standings and votes are in, leaving time for production and post. Made in Cornwall and delivered within 7 days Ordering the whole club together means one flat £10.00 charge rather than several.
