Martial Arts End of Season Awards

Martial arts end of season awards sit alongside a progression system most sports don't have. Students already mark their development through gradings and belts, so the annual awards tend to recognise character, effort and competition results. Whether your club teaches karate, judo, taekwondo, kickboxing or jiu-jitsu, our printed glass awards carry your club badge in full colour with up to four lines of text for each student.

When martial arts clubs hold awards

Martial arts clubs train all year, so there is no fixed end of season. Many choose the last session before Christmas or the summer break, sometimes combined with a grading, a demonstration or a family evening. Clubs that run competition squads often wait until after their main championship of the year.

An annual awards night is also a good moment to recognise students who reached black belt or a new dan grade during the year. Instructors usually choose the winners together, often with input from senior students who help on the mat each week.

Awards that fit the martial arts

Student of the year is the core award, often given in junior and adult sections. Most improved student, instructor's award and a spirit or attitude award reflect the values most clubs teach: respect, discipline and perseverance. Competitor of the year suits students with strong results at open or national events.

Some clubs give discipline-specific titles, such as kata champion and kumite champion in karate, patterns and sparring awards in taekwondo, or randori awards in judo. Little ones' classes, often for four to six year olds, usually work best with an award for every child. An assistant instructor award thanks the senior grades who help run the mat.

Club badges and symbols

Martial arts badges are often circular, with a fist, dragon, tiger, yin and yang symbol or characters from the art's original language, usually in black, red, gold and white. They print in full colour at the top of the glass. Detailed lettering around the edge of a badge needs a large, sharp file. If your badge is mostly white on transparent, ask for the dark backing panel so it shows up clearly.

Wording for grades and sections

Line one carries the title and line two the club name. On line three, put the student's name, and on line four add the section or grade, for example JUNIOR SECTION or 1ST DAN. Many clubs use the student's full name, as it would appear on a grading certificate.

Large awards suit student of the year and competitor of the year, with small awards for each class or junior group. Mix sizes freely in one order, add each student without uploading the badge again, or paste a class list. The live on-screen mock-up shows how longer names fit.

Questions

Can we use one design for several martial arts taught at our centre?

Yes. Keep your badge and change the title or section line for each award, for example KARATE or KICKBOXING. If each art has its own badge, upload them as separate designs within the same order of 5 or more.

Should we include the student's grade?

It is a nice touch, because it shows where the student was when they earned the award. Add it to the last line, such as 3RD KYU or BLACK BELT, and keep the wording short so the text stays clear.

Our badge includes characters in another script. Will they print accurately?

The badge prints exactly as it appears in your uploaded file, in full colour, so any characters within it come out as designed. Upload the largest, sharpest version you have to keep fine strokes crisp.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery is a flat £10.00 per order, however many awards you include. Made in Cornwall and delivered within 7 days Combining your junior and adult awards in one order keeps it simple.
