End of Season Awards for Presentation Night

Presentation night awards are the centrepiece of a club's social calendar, whether it is a football club's summer presentation, a cricket club's September dinner or a bowls club's autumn evening. Getting the night right is mostly about planning: agreeing the list of awards, getting the names right and making sure everything is on the table before the first guest arrives. This page walks through that process for any sport.

Agree the awards list early

Start with last year's list and ask each captain or manager what to keep, drop or add. Most clubs settle on a core set for each team, such as player of the season, players' player and most improved, then a few club-wide awards like clubman of the year or volunteer of the year. Write it down with the size of each award, so the committee can see the total before anyone orders. Plan your end of season awards around the people receiving them, leaving time for each winner to enjoy the moment.

Mixing sizes is the easiest way to give the evening some shape. Small blocks at £8.99 work for team awards, while Large blocks at £13.99 mark the headline club awards.

Set a running order

Most evenings work best with juniors first, while younger children are still awake, then senior teams, then club awards, finishing with the biggest prize of the night. Give the presenter a printed list in the same order, with each winner's name spelled out. Keep the winners secret from everyone except the person running the awards table.

Think about who presents each award, too. A club president or long-standing member suits the club awards, while a guest such as a former player, a local referee or a county coach can add something to the headline prizes. Brief them on how to pronounce every name.

Laying out the table

Glass awards look best lined up on a dark cloth with good light above them. Arrange them in running order, left to right, and put a small card with the award title in front of each so the presenter can find them quickly. Keep a copy of the winners list to tick off as you go.

Unpack and check every award a few days before the night, not on the evening itself, so any spelling query can be dealt with calmly.

Timing by sport

Football and rugby clubs usually hold presentations in May or June, after the league season ends. Cricket clubs present in September or at a winter dinner. Netball and hockey tend to present in spring at the end of the winter league. Bowls clubs often hold theirs in autumn after the outdoor season, and golf clubs at the end of the summer competition season or at the annual dinner.

Whichever applies, aim to have every name confirmed a few weeks ahead. Putting everything in one order keeps it simple, as delivery is a flat £10.00 however many awards you include.

Questions

How many awards should we order for a presentation night?

Count three or four per team plus your club-wide awards, then add any squad awards for younger age groups. Order a little ahead of the night so you have time to check every name once the awards arrive.

Can we mix different award titles and sizes in one order?

Yes. Each award can have its own title, name and size. A single order can hold squad awards, team headline awards and club awards together, all using the same crest, which only needs uploading once.

Should every award show the season?

It helps when awards are kept for years. Put it on line four. Winter sports usually use a split season such as 2025/26, while summer sports like cricket, bowls and golf normally show a single year instead.

When should we order?

Made in Cornwall and delivered within 7 days Count back from the date of your presentation night, and allow time to collect names from every coach and captain before you order, as that is usually the slowest part of the process.
