Glass awards

Dance Competition Awards and Gymnastics Trophies

Dance competition awards and gymnastics trophies are handed out in large numbers on a single day, which is why most organisers rely on medals and rosettes for every placing. Glass works best for the smaller set of awards that matter most: overall champions, highest scoring routine, the judges' special award, or a club's own end-of-year presentation. We print your school, club or competition logo in full colour, with category and name below.

Where glass fits among medals and rosettes

A dance festival or gymnastics competition can have dozens of sections, each placing first to third and sometimes down to sixth. Medals cover those. A glass award sets apart the overall results: highest scoring solo of the day, best troupe, a choreography award, the all-around champion at each level, and a sportsmanship award chosen by the judges or organisers. End of season awards can recognise progress across the year, while competition trophies mark a result on the day.

Dance schools and gymnastics clubs also hold their own presentations at the end of the year or after a summer show: dancer of the year, gymnast of the year, most improved and dedication awards. These are usually decided in advance, so they can carry names.

Writing categories, ages and levels

Dance categories combine style, age and entry type, such as Under 12 Tap Solo or Senior Lyrical Troupe. Gymnastics adds levels or grades and apparatus. Put the award on line 1, the category on line 2 and the name on line 3, leaving line 4 for the competition and year. Use the exact wording printed in the competition programme so the awards match the results sheet.

In women's artistic gymnastics, apparatus titles for vault, bars, beam and floor sit alongside the all-around title, which combines the scores. A large block for the all-around champion and small blocks for the apparatus winners mirrors the way results are announced.

Troupes, duets and group entries

Group entries raise a practical question: one award for the group, or one per dancer. For championship titles, a common approach is a single large award for the school to keep plus small named awards for each member of the troupe. The bulk option lets you paste the troupe list in one go.

For duets and trios, fit both or all names on the recipient line if they are short, or give each performer their own award with the same title and category.

Ordering around competition day

As with any judged event, placings are only known on the day. Competition organisers usually order headline awards without names, showing the title, section and competition. Clubs presenting at their own show can wait for results and add names.

Dance school and gym club logos are often script lettering or a silhouette of a dancer or gymnast. Upload the largest file you have so fine lines print sharply, and choose the dark backing panel if your logo is white.

Good to know

Questions

Should we use glass awards for every placing at our competition?

Usually not. With many sections, medals or rosettes suit the individual placings. Glass awards work best for headline results such as overall champions, highest scoring routine and judges' awards, and for a club's own end-of-year presentation.

How do we fit a long dance category on the award?

Split it across lines. Put the award title on line 1 and the category, for example Under 12 Tap Solo, on its own line. The design appears on a photo of the award as you type, so you can shorten words if a line looks crowded.

Can each member of a troupe have their own award?

Yes. Design one award, then use same crest, new name to add each dancer without uploading the logo again, or paste the full troupe list with the bulk option. A large award for the school can go in the same order.

How long will our awards take to arrive?

Made in Cornwall and delivered within 7 days Order once your sections and running order are fixed, so the wording matches the programme and you have time to check the awards before competition day.
