Tennis Team Player of the Year Award
A tennis team player of the year award recognises the member who held a league team together. Tennis can feel like an individual sport, but anyone who has captained a county league side knows how much depends on players who are available, reliable and happy to play with whoever they are paired with. This award is for them, usually one per team.

Tennis end of season awards: why league tennis needs this award
Most clubs enter teams in a county or local league: men's, ladies' and mixed sides in summer, and often again in a winter league. A typical match is played as doubles, with pairs rotating, so a captain needs enough players every week to field a full side.
The player who never drops out, who will switch partners at short notice and who drives two others to an away fixture rarely wins the club championships. This award gives them their moment at the presentation.
Choosing the winner
The simplest method is the captain's choice, since the captain has picked the team every week. Some clubs prefer a team vote at the last match of the season, which tends to reward the person teammates most enjoy playing alongside.
Results can help but should not decide it. Rubbers won, matches played and availability are all worth looking at, yet the spirit of the award is about what someone brought to the team as a whole.
Wording for each team
Keep TEAM PLAYER OF THE YEAR on line 1 and use another line for the team, for example MEN'S 2ND TEAM or MIXED A TEAM. With four lines available, a good layout is title, team, player and season.
If the club name is important to you, put it on line 2 and the team on line 4 instead of the season. Winter league teams span two years, so a season such as 2025/26 suits them; summer teams can use a single year.
Ordering for several teams
A club with a men's, ladies' and mixed team in both summer and winter leagues may need six of these awards, which meets the minimum of 5 on its own. Small awards at £8.99 each are the usual choice, keeping the Large blocks for championship winners.
Design one award, then use the same crest, new name option to change the team and player for each of the others. Every award matches, and you only upload your badge once.
Recognising captains and helpers too
Captains do much of the hidden work in league tennis: chasing availability, arranging courts, booking balls and sending results to the league. A small thank you award for each captain sits naturally alongside the team player awards. A volunteer who organises match teas or rolls the courts before home fixtures deserves a mention too, and a CLUBPERSON OF THE YEAR award covers exactly that kind of contribution.

Questions
Should each league team have its own team player award?
That is the fairest way, because a captain only really sees their own team. One award per team also means the lower teams, which often carry newer members, get the same recognition as the first team.
Is this the same as a captain's award?
Not quite. A captain's award is usually a personal thank you from the captain for anything at all. Team player of the year is more specific: the member whose reliability and attitude made the team work over the whole season.
Can a captain win team player of the year?
It happens, especially if teammates vote. Many clubs give the captain a separate thank you award instead, so the team player title goes to someone else in the side.
Can we mix these with other awards in one order?
Yes. Sizes and designs mix freely, so team awards, championship awards and junior awards can all go in one order. Delivery is a flat £10.00 whatever the quantity.
