Golf Order of Merit Award
A golf order of merit award goes to the player who tops a season-long points table, rather than the winner of a single day. It rewards consistency: turning up to the qualifying competitions month after month and finishing near the top more often than anyone else. For that reason, many golfers see it as a fairer measure of a good season than any one-off trophy.

Golf end of season awards: how an order of merit works
The club names a set of qualifying competitions at the start of the season, usually the monthly medals and some Stableford events. Points go to the top finishers in each, often on a sliding scale, and the totals are tracked on the noticeboard or the club's competition software through the summer.
Some clubs count a player's best scores only, such as their best eight results, so missing a few events is not fatal. The finer details matter, so publish the rules clearly in spring.
Gross, net and divisions
A single net order of merit can be dominated by players whose handicaps are falling quickly. Many clubs therefore split it into a gross table and a net table, or into handicap divisions so mid and high handicappers have a real chance.
Separate men's, ladies' and seniors' tables are also common. Each division winner deserves their own award, which is where the option to mix sizes and wording in one order helps. A large block for the overall winner and small blocks for division winners is a popular approach.

Wording for order of merit awards
"ORDER OF MERIT" fits on line 1. Line 2 can name the division or table, such as "Division 2", "Net" or "Seniors". Line 3 is the winner, and line 4 the year, since the table runs within one summer.
If the points total is a talking point, it can go on the name line or replace the division line, for example "142 Points". Some clubs also mark runner-up and third place, using "ORDER OF MERIT RUNNER-UP" on line 1.
Timing the order
Because the table can stay close until the last qualifier, the final standings are often only confirmed a week or two before prize-giving. Ask the competition secretary for the date of the last counting event and plan to order straight after it, with the rest of the season's awards. The crest and wording can be set up beforehand, leaving only the names.
It is also worth thinking about the clubhouse display. Many clubs post the final table on the noticeboard on the night, and a presentation that reads out the top three in reverse order works well for an order of merit, because the tension has been building all summer. Having runner-up and third-place awards ready makes that moment feel complete rather than one name and a handshake.

Questions
What is an order of merit in golf?
It is a points table across a set of qualifying competitions through the season. Points go to the leading finishers in each event, and whoever has the most at the end wins the order of merit.
Can we have one award per division?
Yes. Create the first award with your crest, then add each division's winner with "same crest, new name". Each award can have its own division line and its own size.
Should we put the points total on the award?
It is up to the club. Many add it because it shows the scale of the achievement, but only once the figures are final, as the text prints exactly as you type it.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, 5 awards per order, in any mix of the small £8.99 block and the large £13.99 block. Delivery is a flat £10.00 per order however many you include.
